Shoveling

Our family, various members anyway, shovel snow. One brother can be quoted as saying "Think of snow as white gold". One of our jobs is the library. We had to shovel there many times last week...as in more then once a day on some days. Thursday we had about a foot of snow.
One of the times we were there on Thursday a lady who was visiting the library brought us hot chocolate and really good donuts from the gas station! We appreciate this random act of kindness very very much.
Our friend Brandi had a snow day so she was with us as well on Thrusday and got to share in this bounty. They are really quite cold in this shot.
Just an illistration of how deep it was getting. During the beginning of the week it all melted but now we have started to accumulate it again...looks like our check will be a good size for the month of January. :)

Snowy days...where do I start?

No this was not me who buried their car. We have had a very busy week so I am going to try and start catching up the blog. We shall see what actually makes it...I suppose I should start with the promised party pictures.

Coming Soon..

I hope to put up pictures from Suzanne's Birthday/Graduation party soon. We had it yesterday in the Coloma Library Community room. Even though it snowed we had a good turn out and it was great to see so many of our friends. If you came, thank you so much. If you couldn't make it we understand and hope to visit with you soon.

Which is the best picture?

I took these pictures of this rope in September of 2007. I would like to know which one you like best and why. Thanks for your help.

The Local Mechanic

The tools of the trade
Local: as in our driveway
When I got home yesterday this was the scene that greeted me
Zech"s mower had some nasty looking transmission fluid! He even cleaned it all up fairly well when I asked him to come in. :) I thought it would take a lot more time to get under control considering the fact that the mower was in peices and there were tools everywhere.

Christmas lights

I just realized that I never posted my Christmas lights shot. I pretty much took it just to post. It is from my Uncle and Aunt's deck where we spent the evening of Christmas day.

Flashback: Fall Grapes

A lot of people probably do not realizae just how many grapes are grown in Southwest Michigan.
Our area is known for its many wineries and other farmers have contracts with Welches and haul truckload after truckload up to Lawton where the Welches plant is.
The grape vine is used in some powerful biblical examples. The vines are very very strong, but you must prune grapes if you want a good harvest.
One of my absolute favorite smells in the world is that of fresh grapes. I have fond memories of driving in my convertible down the back roads so that I can smell the grapes at harvest time. If someone could make a candle smell just like that I would buy it in a minute! Just open a jar of homemade grape juice and you will see what I mean.
