The end of the highway

After lunch yesterday (which I shall post about later) We started driving north. Ken said there was supposed to be a waterfall or something up that way. Well after driving through some very beautiful scenery we came to the end of the state highway and it took our breath away...
I do not think these pictures can show you just how big the mountain is.
The view away from the ocean. It was a bit cloudy and did start to rain on the way back.
This is the end of the road. It just drops down over that cliff...

In a cloud

Kenny looking at nothing.
Today it rained...and it rained...and it stormed.
It got so white out. We couldn't see anything very far from the deck at all. In fact most of the views that I posted this morning disapeared. very strange to be in the middle of a cloud.
Clearing up a little. It was nice to stay at the house for most of the day. So relaxing...even with the power flickering...the thunder, lightning and mudslides down the street.

Sorry about the lack of cell coverage mom...

Views from the Lanai

This little church down the mountain looked so the charming this morning. I loved it when the morning light hit it.
Yes, these are the views from the deck. It is so awesome and relaxing. We are up on a mountain with a gorgeous view to the west. I can't wait to see the sunset.
Palm tree silhoette.
Check out the gecko.

A day of travelling

This is the huge jet that Cynthia and I rode for 81/2 hours yesterday. It was a long day, when you spend that much time in the air and lose the hours it gets so much longer. Just for the record at this time of the year Hawaii is 5 hours behind Michigan.
We had about 2 hours in Honolulu before flying to Kona, on the big island of Hawaii....so we found our gate, looked around a bit, ate ice cream, meandered and chatted with the man that we had sat next to on the plane in. Then I checked my email and my darling sister read. Once we got here we went to bed, slept for hours and woke up early (Hawaii time)

Off to...

Hawaii!!!!!!

Well, this is it. Tomorrow morning Cynthia and I will be flying to Hawaii to have a lovely week long vacation with the Stovers. I am planning on taking a LOT of pictures...get ready. :)

Reagan

This is my cousins baby...ok...so she is closer to toddler now. Anyway I am so happy I got to see her over the holiday weekend and snap a few (I really mean that) pictures of her.
Which did you like better, the sepia or the black and white?
Reagan and her mom...it was edited some to make it worth looking at.
Funny Face! According to her parents I am the first one to be able to catch this adorable face she makes when you ask her to do her "funny face" So cute!

Student Recital

Last Tuseday was the Student recital at Lake Michigan College. Cynthia sang a song that she learned in her voice lessons. She did wonderfully. It was nice that most of us were able to attend.

Happy Birthday Zech!

My "notsolittleanymore" brother turned 14 years old yesterday. We didn't really have a formal birthday celebration so I didn't get any pictures of him on his actual birthday. It is hard to believe that he was just 4 when he came to live with us.
It is also getting harder and harder to believe that I was once taller then him. My how he has grown up!
Zech is an amazing mechanic and he works so well with "hands on" type projects. They just seem to make sense to him. I am so glad that he is my youngest brother.

Happy Birthday, Zechariah! May the Lord bless you abundantly and may you seek to Love the Lord with all of your heart.

A hint for Anna Joy...

I will definitely NOT be packing all of the winter clothes I wore today. Cynthia and I are flying to the west on Tuesday.

C'mon how about a couple of guesses?

Suzanne in the snow

This post is for all of Suzanne's southern friends. Welcome to my blog! It will be a good way for you to keep track of your dear EXCEL friend from the north.
This is Suzanne throwing a snowball at you. This is not generally a wise pose considering I was holding an expensive camera in my hand...she hit Josh with the snowball seconds later.
So anyway, I hope all you southern belles have enjoyed this post. Please leave comments so that we know you have found us. :)

First Shoveling job of the season

Well, we are back in business. Snow removal is off to a good November start. Even though I am not particuarly fond of snow it would be really good if it snowed consistently this winter. February of last year was stellar but the rest of the winter was kind of a bum deal...it snowed more in April then it did in December I think!
These are just some shots I got on the walk home from shoveling the library.

This is the table before the people. It is two folding tables on end and yes, it did pretty much take up the whole livingroom.

We had a lot of food!! Like enough to feed all of us and you. Looking foward to lots of left overs...for the next week or so.
