2008.06.10

This is a demonstration of what you can do while waiting in the Wendy's drive thru for your brother's frosty. :)

Well, I do believe it has been four weeks since I challenged myself to take at least a picture a day and also do a post a day for a month. I have done it! I know it is hard to believe when looking at today's shot but I feel as if I really have improved tremendously during that time. I hope you all...who I know have been watching...have seen improvement as well.

My idea has always been to add another challenge at the end of the month but now looking at all the things I want to work on I am having a hard time deciding where to go next. Here is a partial list of areas of photography where I really see a need to learn and master basic skills:
Using my shoe mount flash
Using a reflector
Portraits...posing, taking them, etc.
Workflow
Post processing including Photoshop Elements...I don't know where to start!!!
Telling a story with my photos...essays vs. random collections of images
And the list goes on...

I am simply too tired to decide tonight. Let me know if you have any suggestions! I am aiming to make my challenge doable as I do need to handle my other responsibilities in life. :) Is this making any sense?

~challenged for sure ;)

I'll vote for portraits, if you're taking votes.
A year or so ago I was really interested in wedding photography - the ultimate portrait opportunity. I ran across a few really interesting / helpful sites that made suggestions for planning the photos to look for and take, and one was very detailed with suggestions such as how to avoid shadows on faces, enhance natural lighting, outdoor shots, etc. There's a wealth of info out there if you just have time to search it out. Wonder if I can locate those sites again? Umm, I'll try to look for them today and pass them on if i do find them.
