God's Will

I recently heard someone say that

"God's will is what we would choose if we knew what He knows"

That is a very interesting quote when you think about it. I still wonder, however, how we are to "know what He knows"? How are we to determine the will of God for our lives? There have been countless sermons on this very topic but when it comes right down to it...?

Each of us will likely be facing important decisions very soon. Thats just how it works. All of our decisions, every single one, will likely affect the lives of us and others. Put like that it makes me want to use extreme caution when trying to determine what to do and where to go next in my life.
Please pray for me as I face decisions. Pray that I will seek the Lord and be able to see clearly what he would have me to do.

Grandma's House

The other day I was driving down the road thinking about all the memories I have of the places along the way. That is especially true for the road to Grandma's house. For as long as I can remember we have often travelled to Grandma's house. Some years it was only for holidays and special occasions but for many years we have gone to Grandma's many times a week, sometimes everyday.

Dad says that one looking at this picture might think it was taken in the 1980s and that the owners had a new car. It does look like that but I know better, I know that it is moms car in 2007 in front of a house that has timeless beauty. The fall leaves are so pretty at Grandma's that I felt an urgency to capture the moment just like it was while I had time.

In this day of new houses going up all around in huge subdivisions, to me this house is much more beautiful. It is beautiful because of the memories and the love that abound inside the walls and it is beautiful simply because it is my Grandma's house. I feel like I have truely captured the look and feel of "the heartland" in the fall.

Mom

I really like these pictures of mom. She is so good to take pictures of us every year, I'm glad she took a turn as the subject.

Suzanne

Okay, so the last post didn't quite turn out how I thought it would. You will have to forgive the running commentary as I try to work out my blogging issues.

Suzanne is not like my other siblings in that she actually likes to pose for pictures. That might be becasue she is so photogenic.

Yep, these are just a few of the "Suzanne shots". We are doing a year long senior photo shoot so we shall see what comes out on top at hte end of the year.

Joshua

Yeah! I figured it out (how to post pictures side by side that is)

Well, Josh is tall, dark and handsome. Some of these poses were purely his idea...glad I caught, he tends to move fast.

*Note: I really haven't edited these pictures much at all. A little cropping and I used the effects on Picasa but no Photoshop. One of these days I shall practice the wonderful things I learned at PWP 2.

Zech

So for individual shots I decided to start with the youngest and work my way up. That way if I didn't get around to posting all of the pictures I would be one that was not posted. Ha ha...

With Zech I decided a long time ago to just go with the flow and capture the different expressions.

He is not likely to do what I ask but he has about a million expressions so at least I can get some serious personality in these shots. I like the wide angle...he does not.

Also how many of you can cock one eyebrow like that?
PS I am trying to figure out how to post pictures side by side. Any suggestions?

An Annual Autumn Event

Yes, taking pictures is a fall tradition at our house. We don't actually follow through with many traditions and we don't take as many sibling pics as I would like but we tend to make time for them every fall. This year we were missing Jonathon and we keenly felt his absense. So many years of taking group photos with six...well it was hard to only have five...
You know family can bring out a side of you that is not seen by others. Get us siblings together for a photo shoot and I get a bit nervous. We have a hard time cooperating with the photographer and I tend to try and be the photographer and the subject...maybe thats not a good idea.

Obviously we are good at working together. :) When one person straightens up another (or others) make up for it.

Well, this is as good as it is going to get. This picture proved to be the best overall of the five of us. It might just make its way into the New Year's letter...you never can tell. More to come as I sort through the 400 pictures taken on this shoot. Goodnight

Up and running

So now I am going to try and start updating this blog. My goal is going to be at least once a week but we shall see what happens. For now I am just going to try and get the fall pictures from yesterday put up.

Suzanne took the above photo of me and I actually like it. When I figure out how to put up a profile pic I will probably use this one. :) Maybe I will have time to post more of the pics later today...

New blog

Hello all, I am just playing around on the computer and decided to see if I would be able to create a blog. Apparently I succeeded. We shall see if I actually am able to update this or not.

the above picture was taken at the farm where I work. I have definitely been enjoying fall and wanted to share this happy image of harvest time with you. Enjoy.
